We visited Grandpa Ladle before we went to the Superbowl party at Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura's. It was fun to talk to Grandpa and have the kids sing ABC's to him.

Savannah's baptism

Savannah was baptized on Saturday. She was excited and a little nervous. It was a beautiful day and so much fun with family.

Homemade pajamas

I received a sewing machine for Christmas of 2006 from my parents. I just opened it up and used it for the first time a couple weeks ago. I was a little intimidated of it for a while. My mom is an awesome seamstress and has done so much. She helped me make pajama pants for the kids. This was a great first project; they don't have to be perfect and it was fun to make without a pattern.

Savannah's 8th Birthday!

Savannah celebrated her 8th birthday last Sunday. I can't believe she is 8! I still remember her 4th birthday that we celebrated just a few months after she was ours. We took the annual traditional picture of her on Papa's shoulders by her birthday banner. Pretty soon she'll be too tall to sit on Papa's shoulders. She chose her birthday menu - tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and then a chocolate cake with orange frosting. Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent came over and celebrated with us.

On Wednesday afternoon, she had a friend party with 9 little girls. It was all around the owl theme. I got most of my ideas from Pinterest (I love this site) and adjusted them to what I wanted:

Grandma Welling and Jeanette were able to help the entire time; it was a great help. When the girls came they all decorated an owl bag with their names then we decorated the cupcakes to look like owls. The girls loved it and had so much fun making them all different and unique. After that, it was time for games - Fly the owl to the tree (pin the tail on the donkey), musical spots (chairs) and find the lost owl eggs. I made chicken noodle soup and bread sticks for the dinner. The owl cake was amazing and Savannah loved it. My sister, Jeanette helped decorate it the day before. Savannah had a great time and had so much fun with her friends.

Environmental Center

Friday night and Saturday we went up to the Environmental Center by North Fork. My dad is a 6th grade teacher and they had a family retreat with all the co-workers. There were about 30 total there. I haven't been there in years. The kids loved it and have already asked if we'll go back up next year.

Friday night - The kids had to try out the rock wall. We ate dinner (soup and rolls) and then played a fun game "do you love your neighbor." Jacob was with Grandpa Broadbent and laughed so hard the entire time. It was a lot of fun. We loaded up and then drove home.

Saturday - we wanted to be there around 10:30am (we didn't sleep over) but with the snowy roads and detours we eventually got there around 11:30. It was snowing the entire time.

We ate lunch - dutch oven chicken, potatoes and of course cobbler. We got to try all three: blueberry, apple and peach. They were all delicious.

Utah International Auto Expo 2012

Last Saturday we all went to the Auto Expo in Salt Lake. We have gone for the last few years with all the Welling family. This is who attended this year: Grandpa Welling, Melissa, Olivia, Lance, Grandma Welling, Scott, Michelle, Savannah, Jordan and Jacob.

Scott and Lance were so funny wearing the same shirt and trucker's hat. Luckily they didn't wear the hat other than in the parking lot. Scott and Lance love to sit on the third row to see if they fit (and see others reactions). They even push the middle seat back all the way. One car they were in, the sales lady came up to them and told them the back row is for a child, not adults.

It is always fun looking at the cars and letting the kids "drive" them. Jacob didn't care whether he sat in the front or back; he just wanted his seat belt on and the door shut. Jordan and Savannah wanted to be the drivers for Olivia and Jacob. Savannah's loved the red cars, it didn't matter what make or model. Jordan looked for and wanted to be in the back of the dually trucks.

We were at the Auto Show for almost 5 hours. Lance, Scott and Jordan even stayed an extra hour while the rest of us went to Dan and Melissa's for dinner. It was a fun and tiring day with a 3 year old.

A Forever Family

We were able to be sealed to Jacob in the Bountiful temple by my Grandpa Paulson. He also sealed Savannah and Jordan to us 3 1/2 years ago. It was such a special and beautiful day. The kids were great and looked so sweet in white. We shared the day with close family and friends. My friend took professional pictures that we'll be getting soon. For now here a couple from our day:

Jordan's Indoor soccer

Jordan has been playing indoor soccer with his AYSO team. It went for 8 weeks. His last game was on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He loves it and plays hard. He is improving with kicking, following directions from his coach and playing positions. He was able to be the keeper a few games and blocked a few shots.

His team: Rivers, Nick, Simeon, Forrest, Carter, Jordan, Trey, Bryce and Tyson.

We had a great day with family.

The kids helped me make homemade donuts and we decorated them with sprinkles.

I found a cute idea on Pinterst about writing the time on a balloon and then having the kids pop the balloon to see what the activity was that hour. Savannah, Jordan and Jacob loved it. Jordan had his indoor soccer game at 4:15, so we popped at balloon at 3:30 and then 5:30, all the rest were on the hour. We started at 10am and went to 8pm. The kids did not stay up until midnight. With 9am church the next day we needed them to sleep.

Here were some of our ideas:

That night the kids ran around outside with the silly string and then sparklers. It was freezing but they had fun.

Christmas

The kids woke up around 7:45am and we got ready, ate breakfast and then took pictures of the kids on the stairs before they opened presents. They are at the perfect age where the excitement is almost too much. It was so much fun. They played a little and then we got ready to go to Lance and Michelle's ward to listen to them sing and play the piano.

Christmas Eve

We got together with the Broadbent family (my parents and siblings) and exchanged gifts that afternoon; since not everyone would be together for Christmas. The cousins had a great time playing and it was fun to visit.

Jeanette made me this cute stocking wall hanging. I love it!

My mom made each of us a quilt wall hanging. They are beautiful.

Later that night we went to Grandma and Grandpa Paulson's for dinner and the Ball of Fun. This has been a tradition since my mom was young. There are little wrapped presents taped to butcher paper then rolled into a big ball. You never know what treasure you will receive.

Holiday Happenings

Throughout the month of December here are a few things we did:

Savannah and I helped make caramels, toffee (like Almond Roca) and caramel corn with Annie and Jeanette at Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent's house. Jake and Jack played us really loud music on the piano.

Papa helped bake and decorate sugar cookies with Grandma Welling, Melissa and Blake. He even lined up the cookie cutter perfect on the dough to not have any extra dough to roll out again.

Grandma Welling, Grandma Broadbent, Jeanette and I were able to attend the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert with Jane Seymour as the narrator. It was really neat. We had tickets for Sunday and that also included Music and the Spoken Word. Before the concert we walked around the Conference Center and looked at all the busts of the prophets. Pres. Monson's had only been there about a month. The music and dancers and everything was just so amazing.

Scott and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary! We went out to eat at Chili's with the kids.

The Paulson side of the family went to Chuck-A-Rama to eat before my dad's Sound Choice concert. It was fun to see Ryan, Anna and Easton and also Blake, Taryn and Malan again. The Sound Choice concert was really good. My dad has been in this double quartet since I was in middle school I think (there were a few years in between that he took off). They sound so great together and just add to the Christmas spirit.

The kids helped me make sugar Spritz cookies with the cookie press. They each choose a color: Jordan - orange, Savannah - green and Jacob - red (pink). The kids loved helping and the dough actually worked and stuck to the pan. It is so temperamental with the temperature in the house. Sometimes they work great other times it is frustrating.

I am glad to have these memories and I know the kids love them!

Last night after the kids got in their pajamas we put up our ornaments on the Christmas tree. It was fun to see the different ornaments we get each year. I always give Papa one (so that is 11 just for him). Savannah and Jordan each have 4 ornaments that are just for them and Jake has one from last year. I love this tradition.

I love all the traditions and count downs to Christmas. I think we have over seven count down with the chocolate calendar, magnetic board and the kids paper chains. We are also starting a new tradition with...

FRED the ELF

Grandma Broadbent gave us 'Elf on a Shelf' and already the kids love it. We read the story, the kids got to name him and now they are making sure they are doing good things to have Fred tell Santa good things about them. On Pinterest I found a ton of ideas for this little elf.

So Thankful for...

my family, our home, to be a member of the LDS church, our freedom and great friends.

We had a great Thanksgiving holiday. The night before (Wednesday) we went to my Grandma and Grandpa Paulson's will all the aunts, uncles and cousins. We had a delicious meal, played games (Phase 10 was way way too long) and had fun. Savannah, Jordan and Jake played and played. We ended up staying until around 10:30.

Thursday we went to Lance and Michelle's for Thanksgiving. We had all the Welling family there (except Bryce and Jessie, we miss you guys). We ate more wonderful food (way too much), played Nintendo and Wii on the projectors downstairs, talked and hung out. It was a great day and evening. Scott took the kids home around 8pm and I stayed and played Dr. Mario and MC Kids with Blake. It was so much fun. I loved these games when I was little.

Harvesting Zinnia and Marigold seeds

Today I dug up the flowers in our front yard and harvested the seeds.

It is really easy to do and next years flowers are free.

Once the flower is dead and dry -

take off the cone and pull out the seeds

this is a few years worth of seeds

do the same with the marigolds once they are dry

Then next year you'll have beautiful flowers again:

JACOB is ours!

We went to the adoption hearing Monday and now Jacob is part of our family. No more blurred out pictures and I can name him as Jacob on our blog.

Halloween

We had a fun and busy Halloween day!

Savannah and Jordan had their school parade. Grandma Welling, J and I watched all the kids walk by in their cute costumes. Some were so inventive - tornado, snowman, cupcake, Eskimo and an ipod just to name a few.

Then Grandma and I went with J to his preschool for his Halloween party. It was fun to see his friends and watch them play. They played ghost bowling, decorated cookies and Miss Tina had her sister there to do face painting; she is amazing. J was a clown and she drew on the cutest clown face.

When Savannah and Jordan got home from school we went trick-or-treating at Lee's Marketplace and then Bank of Utah. It was fun to see friends I use to work with.

After dinner we all went out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. The kids loved running from door to door and seeing their friends.

Regional Conference with Pres. Monson

Last Sunday was our LDS Regional Conference at the Dee Events center. We were able to listen to our prophet, Pres. Monson. Elder Marlin K. Jensen, Sis. Wixom (General Primary President) and Elder Neil L. Andersen also spoke. It was amazing.

Scott was so nice to take Jordan and J with Grandma Welling to the stake center to watch the broadcast. He had his hands full with Jordan falling off the chair and J throwing a few fits. Savannah and I went to the Dee Events center with Grandma Broadbent and Jeanette. Grandpa Broadbent saved seats for us; he had to be there early with the single adult choir. We were in Gate #13, Row #10 and seats 1-5.

Marlin K. Jensen spoke about the Holy Ghost. In D&C 128:1 he read: occupy your mind with the Holy Ghosts promptings.

Sis. Wixom spoke about revelations for your own families and taught about what we need to forsake to teach our children light and truth.

Elder Neil L. Andersen told about spiritual lessons he has learned from Pres. Monson:

enjoy your assignments
trust the Lord, he shall direct thy paths
whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies
when you are on the Lords errand you are entitled to His help
never let your youth be an excuse
his (Pres. Monson) love is a pattern of the Savior

Pres. Thomas S. Monson spoke on rescuing the 'lost battalion' - those who are lonely, widows, sad, aged, less active, etc. Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. We are there to rescue and to save. Love your neighbor, people can change, reach out and lift up.

Last day at Lagoon

Lagoon closed for the season this past weekend. We had a great time this season, especially with Blake and Grandma Welling. We went 15 times and 5 of those were just during Frightmares.

Savannah and I rode all the big rides with Dan, Blake and Melissa: The Rocket: Blast Off and ReEntry, Samauri, Wicked, Bat, Colossus and Cliffhanger. I love having Savannah being my riding buddy, she is not afraid of anything.

hold on it is a whole new experience.

Papa, Dan, Melissa and Blake went to all 5 of the haunted houses again. I went to the Fun House and Deception at the beginning of the month; they are not for me. I had nightmares for a few days.

The kids got tons of candy in the Spook-a-boo. They loved it.

Before we left Dan, Scott and I raced in the go-carts. During the summer sometime Dan, Scott and Blake raced and the workers took so much time to start that Papa complained and got free tickets. It was a lot of fun!

Halloween costumes

Savannah, Jordan and J dressed up in their Halloween costumes for a friends birthday party and also the Pumpkin Walk in our ward/neighborhood.

Jordan is Dracula (vampire). He loves to have his face painted white and have the red dripping from his mouth like blood. Who would have thought with how scared he is of the kids dressed up at Frightmares.

Savannah wanted to be a Tooth Fairy. We borrowed the dress from Jeanette that she wore for Halloween when she was younger. She helped me make her wand with the tooth and she also has a little tie purse with coins on a ribbon. But her favorite was wearing a little makeup.

J is a clown and has red paint on his nose and his cheeks. He is so cute. This was the costume that I wore when I was little and then Savannah wore it 4 years ago.

They can't wait to go trick-or-treating on Halloween night and gets lots of candy.

Jordan and J both had to join in too. So all morning we were answering questions. It was really funny. It is crazy that just thinking about this takes me back to being in Mrs. Dean's class sitting in the old desks, playing tag at recess and having fun making up little jokes with my friends.

This is the theme for Primary this year. Our ward had our Primary program about two weeks ago. It was perfect and the Spirit was there to testify of the truth.

The Primary children added links to our "scripture chain" each

time they read the scriptures this year.

We have a huge primary (about 35 kids were not pictured above). It has been a great blessing to me to be in the Primary presidency and see my kids learn and gain their testimonies of the gospel. Grandma Welling, Dan, Melissa, Olivia, Jeanette, Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent were able to be there. Savannah and Jordan knew all the songs and had their parts memorized.

Savannah - Jesus Christ was chosen to be our Savior.

Moms and Muffins

This morning Savannah and Jordan invited me and J to their kick off to reading. That is a big deal to have the kids and me ready by 7:30am! We read outside on the track before school started and had muffins. It was a lot of fun to see the kids read and see their friends. The kids really liked it; especially the muffins.

Savannah told me I could just stay there and come to her class with her. Sweet. Jordan didn't even want me near his classroom. Such different personalities.

Soccer

Savannah and Jordan had their first soccer games on Saturday. They both loved it and it was really entertaining to watch.

Jordan got caught in the goal net, lost his shoe, played hard and ran like crazy. Jordan is one of the smallest on his team but he makes up for it with his speed.

Savannah will run and kick the ball when no one is by her, she is not aggressive and will give the ball to the other players so she won't hurt them.

Savannah and Jordan like to practice together at home and tell each other what their coach has them work on. It looks like this will be our Saturday mornings for the next 7+ weeks.

Haiti Days

This was our 5th year of attending Haiti Days. It is so much fun to see the kids grow up each year (2009 and 2010) and they love to play.

We had the picnic with hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, grapes and veggie trays, watermelon and pop. Then cookies and Popsicles for a treat.

The kids loved playing in the pond on the rafts and the canoe. This time we brought swim suits and towels. It is fun to see the friendships form even though we only see each other once a year.

Jordan lost his 1st tooth

He has been wiggling his bottom two teeth to get them loose. Sunday night he decided he wanted it out. His permanent teeth are already in behind his loose teeth. Jordan's teeth are so little that Papa had to use pliers to get the tooth out. He was so brave, there were only a few tears.

Savannah was very concerned and she cried when Jordan's tooth was out. J loved it and wants to loose his tooth now.

Jordan was really excited to put his tooth in the Tooth Fairy pillow that Grandma Broadbent made. He made sure to hang it on his door knob so it wasn't too close. The next morning he was thrilled that he got a little candy a quarter with Utah on it.

This weekend there was a grass fire in the field by our house. We were about 1/2 mile away from it. It was a little scary for a couple hours.

Around 8:50pm

9:10pm, the fire was spreading fast and the wind was blowing a little.

Since the summer is more than half way over; here are some of the things that have kept us occupied during these warmer months:

Cabin with the Welling family

We went up to my grandparents cabin in Oakley again. I love it up there. I have been going there since I was 12 when my grandparents bought the cabin. We had 8 adults and 4 kids sleep over. Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura came up for the day Saturday. It was a little squishy and cramped with only one bathroom; we made it work. We had so much fun and it was a lot cooler.

We ate really good meals (brunches and dinners)

cereal, bagels with cream cheese, English muffins and milk
chicken and vegetables over rice, orange (cherry) fluff salad and cucumbers

cinnamon roll pancakes with maple butter glaze and scrambled eggs

And were overloaded with treats, we didn't finish them all and brought some home.

We were able to hike up a trail at Smith-Moorehouse. We walked in since the road to the trail head was closed; it was too marshy in the campground area. We walked and hiked about 3 miles.

The boys (Lance, Papa and Dan) cut and split fire wood with the ax and saw. They even threw a log in the air to have the other person chop it with the ax. Safe? Probably not.

We played games - Frisbee Golf, Boxers and Briefs, MadLibs, Waterworks and cards.
Watched movies - 'Songs of the South' and 'Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium'

We had a great time with our family and hope to do it again next year.

Last night for Family Night the kids got in their swimsuits and helped us wash the bugs off the car.

Independence Day

We had a great Fourth of July!

Bryce and Jessie surprised us this weekend. They will be staying here for 2 weeks. We had a ton of fun with them at Lagoon on Saturday.

Yesterday, was busy, exhausting and so much fun.

Blake ran the 5K. He finished 2nd in his age group. I know his time was 21 minutes. I just don't remember the seconds.

Parade - the kids got a couple Frisbees, a football, sun scene, a tennis ball, pencils, Popsicles, papers for advertising and tons of candy. There were a few actual floats, not just cars driving with streamers. J did not like the loud sirens. J and Jordan both did not like the fireman clowns, the knight or the scary guy (advertising for a Haunted House). Savannah danced along with the cheerleaders and dancers.

Car show at the library and booths. I stayed at Grandma's house with Blake and Michelle while J took a much needed nap. Jordan and Savannah talked about seeing the little car and the airplane car.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent's later that night. Clark, Annie, Jack, Jeanette, Blake, Bryce and Jessie were all there for hot dogs, chips and watermelon. We watched a few of the neighbors fireworks.

I planned on taking Savannah and Jordan to see the fireworks from the high school. Well, they were over right when we sat down to watch. They started a lot earlier than I had thought.

We had a great Fourth of July being with family and having fun.

Jordan's 6th Birthday!

Jordan is 6!

He has been looking forward to his birthday for months. We had his birthday dinner with the Welling family last Sunday. He chose to eat Grandma's macaroni, corn and peas and bread sticks. Then for the cake Melissa made an awesome snake out of red and orange frosted cupcakes. He loved it. Jordan popped his balloons with the darts and then we played Boccee and Don't Eat Pete.

Jordan had his first birthday party with his friends. It was all about sports (the theme has changed from Star Wars, racing, etc over the months). Jordan helped me design the invitations. He even gave Savannah and J an invite. The boys came in their jerseys and sports attire. Grandma Welling was able to come and help out, I really appreciated that.

They colored on paper jerseys until everyone got there. Then we started the sports. They competed against themselves and had a lot of fun.

We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bologna and cheese, Doritos, strawberries from our garden and Root beer and grape pop. We sang Happy Birthday and Jordan blew out his candle on the ball cake. Jeanette frosted it to look like a basketball, then a soccer ball and a baseball on top.

During this time one of the boys noticed something over by the fence - an uninvited guest, a blow snake. They were so excited to see it and had to get close. Luckily he slithered under the neighbors fence. He did come to play again before the party was over.

After everyone was done eating they played on the swings, some wanted to do the sports again. Then they all played a little scrimmage with the soccer ball until their moms came. All the boys were so sweet and told Jordan "thanks for inviting me to your birthday party" and "this has been so much fun, thank you." I love it!

Later that night Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent came over to see him. We had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches with pepper jack cheese. They were yummy. Jordan went to the garage to see what his present was from us - a new bike.

He loves it and was grins from ear to ear.

Father's Day

Savannah, Jordan and J all helped me put a book together for Papa. They each colored a picture.

Savannah's pictures were with her and Papa sleeping under a rainbow and then her and Papa picking strawberries by the swing set.
Jordan drew him and Papa golfing together and playing basketball.
J drew different colored circles.

Then I asked them questions and they answered them. Here are a few:

Every night Papa and I .... sing songs.
It's really important to Papa and me ... say I love you and give hugs and kisses.
If I had a ton of money I would get Papa .... popcorn, cookies, M&Ms and a big candybar.

One of the best things Papa and I have done this year ... go golfing.

I like it when Papa and I ... eat yogurt.
Every night Papa and I ... do babushka and taco (made up songs by Papa, the kids love them)

The kids also made cute paper ties with Hershey Kisses glued to them and cards from church.

Nature Center

For the summer we can go to the Nature Center for free on Saturdays. The kids had a fun time and so did Grandma Welling and Blake. We looked at the animals, walked the trails (until they were closed due to the high water) and the kids made little pine cone critters.

End of School Year

Savannah, Jordan and J had their end of year programs that we attended. Papa, Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura, Grandma Welling, Grandma Broadbent, Jeanette and Anna were able to come to a couple. The kids loved it.

Savannah had her Oceans of Fun program. She was a blue whale. She has been practicing the songs for the program in her class for a few months. She even had a little part and said it loud and clear, "Could one of you little fish please clean off my scales. This bacteria is killing me."

Savannah also had her 1st grade talent show. She hula hooped and did great. She thought of this all on her own. When I was her age (or even now) there is no way I would get up in front of my friends and do that. She was so proud of herself. There were a few other talents - rapping, dancing, piano, reading an original poem about Money, pogo stick, telling jokes and singing.

Jordan had his Kindergarten graduation. He sang all the month songs through out the year and then they sang "Start spreading the news, we're leaving today. We want to be apart of it... 1st grade! 1st grade!" It was really cute. Then we watched a slide show of all the pictures through out the year. Jordan was excited to point out who he knew and what they were doing.

J had his Preschool graduation. He has only been going to this preschool for a couple months. They (mostly the teacher) sang a few songs and then we had cookies. He was excited to get bubbles, a cookie and a drink box from his teacher and the bus aide.

Now it is summer break, and guess what we had snow on the ground the first day. Hopefully it will get warmer outside so the kids can play and play.

U2 360 tour

Awesome!!!!!!

Scott and I have been to the Elevation and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb tours. I think this was the best so far.

We had a great time. We bought our tickets at the first of last year and waited and waited until last night. It was worth the wait.

We got there around 6:45 and it was packed. We waited in line for security and that was when "The Fray" started playing. A little before 9:00 U2 came out. It was awesome and loud; that you could feel the beat in your chest and you couldn't hear your neighbor singing. There was so much excitement and energy.

Scott and I went with Jeff and Stacie, Sean and his brother Brock, James and Natalie and James' sister Jenny. We were very lucky that it didn't rain. I was happy to have my coat with me and that kept me plenty warm.

The music was great. They played for over an hour and a half with no intermission.They sang all my favorites plus a couple that I wasn't that familiar with.

The stage was a claw (it reminded me of tentacles of an octopus) and the lights and LED screens changed all the time. Here were a few pictures Scott took during the night.

Mother's Day

This weekend we went to Salt Lake to visit with Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura and then we went to Lagoon. We played with the remote control cars.

Sunday I got to sleep in. We had French toast and then before church the kids gave me their Mother's Day gifts and cards. We also tried to get a family picture.

Savannah made me a pop-up card and a calendar from May 2011 - April 2012. It is so cute.

Jordan gave me a card and a butterfly picture frame he painted with his school picture inside. He told me he used eye droppers to make it.

J gave me a card, some candies and a beaded bracelet he made in school.

After church we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent and then Grandma Welling and Blake came over to our house for dinner.

All the grand kids made ladybug rocks. The kids were so excited to paint the rocks and give them to each Grandma.

Papa's birthday

Happy Birthday to you!

Papa is now a year old than me, Jordan has been so worried about this. He likes it when we are the same age. The kids and I made him a card. We didn't have the traditional cake; Papa wanted cornbread with butter and honey.

I put the candles in the warm cornbread, we sang Happy Birthday, Papa blew out the candles. Then, we were taking the candles out Papa thought I might have put the candles in upside down (silly). They had melted into the corn bread.

Ocean Expo

Savannah had her first project in school. She was to do a project on the ocean. She decided she wanted to do it a few animals - Nemo (clown fish), star fish, crab (from visiting Washington) and a snail (mollusk).

She worked on the project for a couple weeks and today it was due. The parents and kids can go to the gym to see all the projects. They are all so amazing. Savannah is so proud of her project and telling everyone about the coral reef animals. The whole gym was full. It was fun to see the Primary kids and Savannah's friends from her class.

Easter

We had a great Easter. It is fun of course to have the candy, bunnies, baskets, etc., but I am so thankful the kids know the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it.

Michelle helped us dye the eggs a couple days before. Savannah, Jordan and J had a lot of fun with the different colors, decorating and putting on tons of stickers.

Saturday we went to Lee's for their egg hunt. The kids got a cute picture of them with the pink Easter Bunny. They walked around the store the different stations and got chocolate milk, cookies, string cheese, berry water and an apple.

Easter morning the Easter Bunny spelling out HAPPY EASTER with the candy. Savannah wrote a little note to the Easter Bunny:

The Easter Eggs are in the fridge and the Easter Eggs are freezing cold.

Savannah, Jordan and J loved finding the candy and eggs.

Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura gave the kids cute little bunnies and candy. We had a couple Easter Egg hunts at Grandma Welling's and then at Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent's. Our candy bowl from Halloween and Christmas was almost gone; now it is totally full again.

Tooth Fairy pillows

Grandma Broadbent made Savannah and Jordan the cutest little Tooth Fairy pillows. They can place their tooth in the pocket on the back and then hang the pillow on their door knobs (so the Tooth Fairy doesn't need to come in their rooms). They are both so excited to loose their teeth so they can put them in the pillow.

Spring Break

The kids had Spring Break in the snow. Scott measured 5 1/2 inches on Saturday. It snowed Thursday - Sunday. It didn't stick to the sidewalks or road, that was nice. Even though the kids weren't able to play outside in the sun, go to Lagoon, ride bikes and do the slip and slide (that is what Jordan really wanted to do). We did have some fun while they were out of school:

-made homemade Oreo cookies

Homemade Oreos

2/3 c. shortening

1 cake mix - Devil's food

1 t. vanilla

4 eggs

Mix together and roll into little balls.

Bake 350 for 7-8 minutes

Filling

1 cube butter

1 (8 oz) cream cheese

2 t. vanilla

2 cups powdered sugar

After cookies have cooled. Mix the frosting and

frost one cookie and then put another on top.

-redid Savannah's hair. Her hair is still pretty straight and the little braids will keep it out of her eyes.

Tomorrow the kids go back to school and I am happy to get my afternoons back.

General Conference, Lagoon and Birthday

This weekend was a lot of fun. We listened to General Conference, went to the opening day at Lagoon and celebrated my birthday.

Lagoon was a blast! It wasn't crowded and the weather was perfect. We went with Dan, Melissa, Olivia, Blake, Keana and Lexie. Grandma Welling had to work, she will be coming with us during the summer since she also has a season pass.

I got to ride all my favorite rides and we all had a fun day. The first ride Dan, Savannah and I went on was Cliffhanger. You have to expect a few problems where it is the first day and new workers. Well we got on the ride with two other boys. It put us upside down for a lot longer than normal (25-30 seconds) and then it went okay. At the end we just went in circles (not going upside at all) and then we stayed strapped in for a few minutes while they worked on getting the straps to release. Savannah did not like it and I felt dizzy from staying upside for so long.

Savannah and Jordan both said their favorite ride is the new one, Bom Bora. J liked the helicopters and bumper cars the best. I took him on Tidal Wave and he held on so tight and screamed and kept saying "all done."

Scott, Blake, Melissa, Savannah and I rode the bumper cars for a long time. Luckily the line wasn't long so you got off the ride and got right back on. You only had to walk through the line.

We ate lunch in the parking lot and Melissa made chocolate chip cookies and had a little Happy Birthday sign in mine. So nice.

If I was single and going to the singles ward I would kicked out now. Scott made sure I had a great day. Last weekend we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I love it there. The kids had fun throwing their peanut shells on the ground. Yesterday, I slept in until General Conference started (10am) and then we ate scrambled eggs, toast, bananas and strawberries for breakfast. I stayed in my pajamas until around 3. The kids made cute birthday cards and I got new shoes and two watch faces. It was a nice relaxing day.

We had Family Night at Royal and Jill's that night and ate crockpot French toast, egg, sausage and hashbrown casserole and fruit. Anna made a delicious beautiful cake. It was four layers and had white chocolate frosting. Yum!

J had a great 3rd birthday! He got a Nerf dart gun, Color Wonder paper and markers, sectioned plate, Cars cup, sunglasses, I Spy game and a couple books. He loved all the attention.

He chose his birthday dinner - chicken taco bake, orange pop and salad. He says taco bake like - ako bake. We had a great time!

Last night we had a surprise for the kids. Really it was a surprise for all of us. My Uncle Chris invited us to the Jazz 100 Club 2011 Meet the Team Autograph Party. It was so much fun.

We didn't tell the kids until we were in the parking lot of the Zions Bank Basketball Center. Jordan bit his lip and was jumping up and down in the car. He was so excited.

We waited in line and got all the autographs of the players on our little poster boards. We saw everyone on the team but Andrei Kirilenko, he wasn't there. Some players were more friendly and nicer than others.

Afterward we (Scott, Blake, Savannah, Jordan, J and me) ate a little buffet and talked with my Uncle Chris and Grandma and Grandpa Paulson. My Grandma asked Jordan if he was going to tell the kids in his class where he was. He said giggling "They wouldn't believe me."

Leprechaun Day

Savannah, Jordan and J were so excited to wear green and made sure Papa and I were too. Papa doesn't have green on; but this morning he showed the kids a green app on his phone and he told them if he keeps his phone with him he won't get pinched. They believed him.

Last night we had our green dinner, since tonight we have something else planned. We had Parmesan chicken with green mashed potatoes and green chicken gravy, peas and lime jello. Then for dessert we had Chocolate Sundae Crunch. I love it.

Chocolate Sundae Crunch
2 c. flour
2/3 c. brown sugar
1 c. margarine (melted)

Combine flour and brown sugar. Stir in butter. Press into 9x13 inch ungreased pan. Bake 375 for 15-20 minutes.

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. whipped topping, thawed

Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the cool whip. Spread over crust.

3 c. cold milk
1 (6 oz.) package chocolate pudding
remaining whipped topping
colored sprinkles or chocolate chips

Whisk milk and pudding. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Regrigerate for 15 minutes. Spread with the remaining whipped topping. Chill and put on sprinkles of chocolate chips. Cut into squares.

This morning after we got Savannah to the bus stop, the boys helped me make green waffles and stir a little green food coloring in their milk. We read "Green Eggs and Ham" and another book about the color green.

For lunch we had green egg salad sandwiches and yogurt.

So far it has been a fun day and we haven't seen the Leprechaun. Have you?

Chocolate Mug Cake

Last night for Family Night the kids helped me make this yummy treat. It is a lot of fun since they can help out and watch it rise over the mug in the microwave.

I got the recipe from designzbydede.

Chocolate Mug Cake

4 Tb Flour
4 Tb Sugar
2 Tb Cocoa
1 Egg
3 Tb Milk
3 Tb Oil
3 Tb Chocolate Chips
Small Splash of Vanilla Extract
1 Lg Mug

Add the flour, sugar and cocoa to the mug - mix. Then add the rest and mix thoroughly. Put in the microwave for 3 minutes on High. The cake will rise over the top of the mug (it dripped down the mug a little). Allow to cool and eat out of the mug or slide a knife around the edges and tip onto a plate.

The kids and I shared two mugs of cake. That was quite a bit. Also, Scott mentioned that you can probably make this using a cake mix and just fill the mug 2/3 of cake mix and then bake it in the microwave. We'll have to try that out too. Enjoy!

This weekend we had a lot of fun. We were in Salt Lake all day with Dan, Melissa, Olivia, S, Lance and Michelle.

Scott went to do taxes at Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura's. Michelle and I watched all the kids while Dan and Melissa went to a temple sealing. Then we watched Olivia play in her soccer game. She runs around and is so cute. In the afternoon the boys all went to the AutoRama car show. They all came back and we ate a yummy dinner and treats.

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Papa and I went to our Stake Valentine's Dinner Dance on Saturday night. It was really good food and fun to watch the couples dance. There were a few elderly couples and it was crazy how they were moving around so fast.

Breakfast on Sunday, we had eggs in a basket in a heart shape. We also had pink milk and butter. The kids loved it.

Valentine's Day - the kids took their little cards and chocolate candies for their classes. They came home with a lot of wrappers and some candies in their Valentine's bags.

Savannah, Jordan and J helped me decorate pink heart shaped sugar cookies.

We also had everything pink and red for dinner: chicken and pink rice, pink bread, red jello and pink lemonade.

For Family Night we talked about loving each other and what we can do to show our love for each other.

Jordan said he could help Savannah with her hard homework.

Savannah could let J play with her toys.

Jordan could play Legos with me and make treats.

Papa could give hugs to everyone and make up songs.

For the game, I had everyone do a treasure hunt to find the Valentine's we made for each other. It was a fun night.

I love my family so much and I am happy!

Superbowl XLV (45)

We went to Grandpa Welling and Grandma Laura's for a Superbowl party. It was a lot of fun with tons of food - pizza, chips and salsa, Cheeto's, cookies, pop, carrot sticks with Ranch dressing, pizza bites and lot of treats.

The kids watched a little of the game. They mostly colored, played games (Pretty Pretty Princess) and played with toys.

The commercials were the best. I think my favorite is the little Darth Vader and the boarder guards with the Coca Cola.

I really didn't care who won; Jordan wanted the Packers to win since Grandpa Jenkins told him the Steelers are called that because they steal.

It was fun being with family and getting to talk with Bryce and Jessie via Skype.

Savannah has straight hair!

We went to the salon today to have Savannah's hair textured (relaxed). We weren't sure what to expect. I was thinking just a little less curly to make it more manageable to comb and take care of. It is straight.

Savannah loves it and wanted to sleep sitting up tonight to not make it go curly in the morning.

We like it; it is just so different than what we are use to. Her hair is really long.

I can't believe Savannah is now 7. Next year she'll be baptized; she is so excited to turn 8. When does that stop, when you don't look forward to getting older? 30.

Papa took her to IHOP for breakfast. She and Papa tried all the different kinds of syrup on their pancakes. She loved the special attention.

She came back home around 10 for her fairy/ princess birthday party with her friends. They were all so cute dressed up and so giggly. They loved all the fairy stuff and fluff.

Savannah opened her presents and loved everything. One of the girls would tell me and Grandma Broadbent what it did and that she had that exact one at home. It was so cute.

The girls played while they waited for their parents to pick them up. They got a little party favor bag when they left.

Savannah had a great time and was so excited to be dressed up with her fairy wings on. I think the girls had fun too.

Savannah closed her eyes for her present from us - it was a new bike. She loves it and wants to ride it even though it is snowing.

We love you Savannah and are so happy you are our daughter and so sweet.

This is my new favorite thing on the computer; it is very addicting.

Savannah got a Webkinz cat for Christmas and I thought okay, lets try it out on the computer. You enter the code in the computer to adopt the pet and then there is a whole virtual world. I love it! You play games to get Webkinz coins to buy food, furnishings, rooms, clothes, etc. We have six rooms so far. You have to check on the cat (Princess) everyday to make sure she is happy, fed and healthy. That's not a problem for me. I am in this world way too much.

My favorite games are Alantiles, Get Eleven Solitaire and Tile Towers.

Auto Show

Over the weekend we went to the Auto Show and had a great time. The kids loved "driving" the cars. There were tons of cars! We went with Lance, Grandpa Welling, Dan, Melissa, Olivia and S. Luckily, it wasn't too busy and the kids were good for the few hours we walked around. The stroller was a big help.

We had a great time playing games all night.

Before the kids went to bed (around 8:30) we all played 'Cinderella', 'Don't Break the Ice' and 'Hullaballo'. They loved it and then they got their noise makers and we counted down. It was great.

After the kids were in bed we (Grandma Welling, Blake, Papa, Lance and Michelle) played games until 2am.

Last night we went to Salt Lake for the annual Jenkin's Christmas dinner and bowling.
There were about 50-60 people and I won the best woman bowler - awesome! I got 121!
I am never good; so I was surprised when I got a couple strikes and spares.

Snow, snow and more snow

We woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow this morning and it hasn't stopped. We have about 11 inches now. The kids have had so much fun playing in the snow, building snowmen and shovelling. The snow soaked everyone; to warm up we drank some hot chocolate with marshmallows. Yum!

Wow what a fun, busy and great family day!

We woke up around 7:30 and the first thing the kids did was go look at the plate of cookies and the oats. Jordan and Savannah were giddy with excitement. J really didn't know what to think. We ate breakfast and got ready and then we opened the presents. Savannah and Jordan received scooter and J got a bike from Santa. With no snow, it was great for them to try them out.

After our family presents were opened we had all the Welling family over to open more presents. We ate egg soufflé and cinnamon rolls and every other treat imaginable.

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent's house and opened tons more.

It was a fun day with a few tantrums and tears. The kids didn't get to play with their toys when they opened them and they didn't make them happy. We had so many presents to open all day. It was open, then put in the bin and get ready for the next one.

After the kids were in bed Grandma Welling, Blake, Lance and Michelle came back over and we talked with Bryce and Jessie and watched them open a few presents.

Christmas Eve

We always get together with the Paulson family on Christmas Eve! This year it was at Royal and Jill's house. We had a great time eating tons, hanging out, playing the left right game and opening the presents in the Ball of Fun.

Left Right game - Each person in the group gets an envelope. Only one is the winner. Grandma reads a story about our family and then you pass the envelope to the left or right when it says. At the end you open your envelope. This year each family made up a little something. This was ours:

Scott and Michelle met right at the end of the month of May on a blind date. Six months later, they were married in the right temple and had a wonderful cold day. Scott still works at National Fitness as their computer programmer and web designer. He loves it, and it is the right job for him. Michelle worked for Bank of Utah and helped people left and right with their money and loans. Scott and Michelle decided something was left out of their lives and decided to have a family. They left to Haiti and brought back two beautiful kids – Savannah and Jordan. Their family was sealed in the Bountiful temple to be right with each other.

Savannah is right handed and loves 1st grade. She is learning to read and work on math story problems. There are seven cats and two leave. How many are left? She loves to play with her babies, Polly Pockets and My Little Ponies and change them left and right. She is a big sister and helps Jordan and J remember to choose the right and be nice.

Jordan is in Kindergarten and loves his class and friends. He is learning to write using his left hand. His favorite things to do are play right outside on his bike and scooter. He can swoosh the basketball with his left hand. He is very excited for Christmas and excited for what Santa left him.

J is new to their family. He fits right in. He loves to play and does not like to be left out of anything. He can point to his left eye, left ear and his nose. He likes to help out in the kitchen and stir the batter left and right. They are happy he is with them.

They love their little family and know when we choose the right we will be happy.

Ball of Fun - little wrapped presents (lip gloss, toys, candy, etc) that are taped to butcher paper and rolled to make a ball. This has been a tradition since I have been little and we always look forward to it.

Scott and I celebrated our 10 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!

We went to Olive Garden and had a delicious dinner. I had the Tour of Italy (my favorite) with the salad. Scott had the rosemary chicken and broccoli noodle dish. It was not his favorite; but he did like his soup. After we looked around at furniture with just the two of us. It was perfect.

I made a memory book for Papa of our 10 years together. Here are a few pages. We haven't changed to much :)

We went to hear Grandpa Broadbent sing with his group - Sound Choice. This was the 28th annual Christmas Open House. It is always a lot of fun to hear the fun and spiritual Christmas songs.

What did you do last night?

We had a great time for Grandma Laura's birthday. Then on the way home someone was suppose to be holding the cooler on their lap. That same someone tipped the cooler and it was leaking. Leaking RED Kool-Aid everywhere in the back of the car.

When we got home we got the kids in bed since it was late. The Scott and I were in the garage for close to 2 1/2 hours. Scott unscrewed the bolts for the seats in the back and took the carpet out. We mopped up the Kool-Aid that was on the frame. It had soaked clear through. What a mess. We scrubbed the carpet and now it is hanging up drying in the garage. I know the carpet is stained for good, but we are hoping the sticky sugar is out.

Happy Gas

Well, this morning I had an 8am appointment at the dentist for a crown and a filling. I was so worried and nervous. I never even had a cavity until after I was married. My teeth have always been great and healthy. The crown and filling were teeth right next to each other.

I got to the office and the lady asked if I wanted happy gas? I said, I've never had it before. She told me that my feet and fingers would tingle a little, like when you go to sleep. I didn't think it had any effect on me, until the dentist came in and asked me some questions a few minutes later. I was having a hard time concentrating and then I asked him "is my mouth open all ready?" Yeah, the gas was getting to me. It is a crazy feeling.

So, I was in the dentist chair for almost three hours. I watched "National Treasure 2" and then some HGTV show. I wasn't in pain with the pulling, awful metal screw things, mouth full of cotton, etc. Right now my mouth is still a little numb; I can tell the shots are wearing off, but I feel fine. We'll see about later tonight and tomorrow.

If I have to get a crown or any other dental work done, I am defiantly doing the happy gas again.

P.S. Only 22 days until Christmas! The kids are counting down and think if they take off more than one paper ring Christmas will get here faster.

Gobble, gobble, gobble

Thanksgiving is always a lot of fun. This year we ate the big meal at my Grandma and Grandpa Paulson's house with everyone. I think there were 27 people.

Jordan was really tired and then he got sick. It's so sad. I got hold and cuddle with him for a while. It seems there is always someone in the family sick for Thanksgiving.

Tangled and Jazz

Yesterday, Jeanette and I thought it would be so much fun to take Savannah, Jordan and Jack (my nephew) to see "Tangled" the day it came out. I was thinking that Jack would sleep the entire time. I was so, so wrong.

Jack was fine for about 20 minutes into the movie; then he cried and screamed the rest of time with me outside in the hallway. We saw a few people from our ward and my Uncle Royal and Aunt Jill and their family. Jordan got scared and sat on Jeanette's lap. He kept saying "I don't like this." Savannah only liked some parts (the happy daytime). When the show was finally over almost two-hours later (very long for me and screaming Jack) the kids said there were too many scary parts.

We came home and ate lunch and then they all took a nap.

Later that night Scott and I went to the Jazz game with Blake, Grandma Laura, Dan and Melissa. Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent watched the kids. We were way up in the nose bleed seats; but had a ton of fun with the $5 tickets. The Jazz won the Hornets by 18. It was great!

Candy and Machines

After Parent/Teacher Conferences for the kids yesterday we drove to Salt Lake and toured the Sweet's Candy Factory with Melissa and Olivia.

It was a lot of fun seeing how they make jelly beans, taffy and chocolate covered candies. The tour guide was so cute; she told us all these facts, I can only remember a few:

Did you know it takes 7 days to make a jelly bean?
They use cornstarch as the candy molds and then break it down and use it again. That way they don't need to grease the molds or clean them after.
They are already working on the Valentine's candy. They're always ahead by a few months.

After, we bought some candy in the gift shop. Orange sticks and then we found in the corner... a box (6- 5lb bags) of Natural Easter eggs, normally $113.00 marked down to $10. Yeah, we bought it. We love candy!

The tour was about 40 minutes and it was just the six of us. We had to stay on the yellow lined path, take off all jewelry and check in your bags, cameras, etc at the front desk and wear funny candy hats (hair nets). The kids loved it and it was free! Thanks Melissa and Olivia for going with us and letting us know about it.

We got in the car and drove to Dan's work to see what he does. He is a machinest and works with all kinds of metals. It was fun to see the huge machines working when he programmed them. The kids each got a little white piece. I think Dan said it was something to stabilize a submarine. Savannah thinks it's a whistle and Jordan likes it to be a castle.

Hand and Foot Print Turkey

colored construction paper

   pencil to trace
   scissors
   glue

You trace one of your feet in a sock for the body on brown paper, and then line up the heel of your other foot and tilt it a little (see the picture and it should make more sense).

Cut out different colored hand prints for the feathers.

Cut out eyes, beak, feet and gobbler, glue it all together.

I love them hanging up for the holidays. Happy Thanksgiving.

1650 miles - driving the moving van for Bryce and Jessie to Michigan and then he and Lance flew home (Friday morning – Sunday morning).

Bryce and Papa had a great time in Las Vegas. They saw some crazy cars. Here are a few that they liked.

Bryce and Jessie moved to Michigan for Bryce's work. It took a while to pack up all their stuff. Bryce has three vehicles and Jessie has one. They towed the Volvo behind the moving van. On Thursday all day they packed and loaded the boxes into the moving van. Friday morning Scott drove the moving van towing the Volvo, Lance drove one car, Bryce drove another and Jessie drove hers. They had a caravan going to Michigan. It was a long drive (about 22 hours). They made it barely in time for Papa and Lance to get to the airport to fly back home Sunday at 6am. No sleep for these travelers.

We already miss Bryce and Jessie. We hope they are doing good and find a great place.
